Local Chef and restaurant owner opening downtown music venue, blue at Red Gravy
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chef Eric Brenner of Red Gravy, a downtown Colorado Springs Italian restaurant is opening blue at Red Gravy soon.
After enduring a year of pandemic-related restaurant challenges with creativity and innovation, Chef Brenner was able to keep his restaurant open and retain his team, while also giving back to the Colorado Springs community through the launch of Meals to Heal, a local GoFundMe initiative aiding two frontline industries: the (overwhelmed) healthcare and (beleaguered) restaurant industries. It was during this time that he also recognized the severe impact the pandemic played on musicians and wanted to provide a solution using extra banquet space in his restaurant to accommodate that need.
“It’s important to me to give back to the community that has supported us for so many years,” said Red Gravy Owner and Executive Chef, Eric Brenner. “As a Chef with a music background, I am passionate about the music industry. Last year shed a light on the fact that musicians have experienced significant pandemic-related hardships and made me realize our community needs more venue space to support these artists,” said Brenner.
Fellow business partners and co-owners of Red Gravy, Bob and Terri Jack, also share a deeply set passion for the music scene in Colorado Springs. “Having a venue in which to perform and entertain is the bread and butter for most musicians and we are excited to reclaim part of our restaurant space to accommodate that need,” said Bob Jack.
“We look forward to offering musicians and our community a space to come together and celebrate music again. It will be a space for people to enjoy an intimate atmosphere with a small bites menu and signature cocktails while enjoying live performances from local artists,” said Terri Jack.
While blue at Red Gravy can comfortably seat up to 30 guests, the venue will remain compliant with all state and local health guidelines in response to COVID-19. The space will feature comfortable lounge-style seating in a dimly lit space, a stage where nightly performers will play, a curved open seating bar, designed and built by Bob and Terri Jack, and will offer small plates and a signature drink menu for guests to enjoy from Thursday through Saturday from 5 pm – 1 am and is considering requests for the private use of the space from Sunday – Wednesday by contract as available.
